Constella OperaBallet is committed to supporting the next generation of young artists. Principally, this is through intensive masterclass programmes based on hands-on learning led by Constella's artists.
The Canary Boys
Constella delivered numerous day masterclasses with young people across the country exploring music, dance and drama inspired by the UK's coal mining culture. The days concluded with performances for the local community. Creative ideas developed by the children were fed into the professional production The Canary Boys.
West Kent College
An example of Constella's masterclass series is an opera-ballet creation masterclass at West Kent College. Over the course of a week, 100 young people aged 16 - 21 studying subjects such as theatre, music, dance, hairdressing and make-up were brought together to create opera-ballet scenes inspired by Constella's award-winning production Sideshows. The masterclass culminated with a performance of the students work accompanied and intertwined with the professional production.
